HRG Facility Coding Director Earns CHDA Credential
Kelly Jacobus, who has nearly 20 years of experience in facility and professional fee coding, recently passed the certification exam to earn her Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) credential.
After nearly twenty years of experience in facility and professional fee coding, Kelly Jacobus recently passed the certification exam to earn her Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) credential. Kelly’s passion for continued self-improvement is a perfect example of HRG’s personal desire to provide exceptional service to their clients. Jacobus’ CHDA brings her total to five professional certifications, including CCS, CDIP and CCS-P. When asked about Kelly’s recent achievement, Carole Morris, Vice President of Coding at HRG said, “I sincerely appreciate Kelly’s dedication to her profession and especially to HRG. Each certification adds more credibility to HRG and takes tremendous commitment.”
The CHDA designation is awarded by AHIMA and recognizes those with expertise in health data analysis. This certification provides its holders with the knowledge to acquire, manage, analyze, interpret and transform data into accurate, consistent, and timely information while giving insight and strategic vision with daily details. CHDA-credentialed professionals possess broad organizational knowledge and are able to communicate that knowledge effectively across internal and external groups at multiple levels.
There is an abundance of data in healthcare, which can easily be overwhelming, but with her new certification, Kelly is able to expertly use this data to provide useful information for HRG’s clients. “Data on its own is just raw facts. Data processed, or transformed, becomes information, and information is very useful,” explains Kelly. A good example is an ICD-10 code, which on its own is simply letters and numbers, yet when electronically submitted for billing and payment it becomes a vital piece of healthcare information. Data analytics provides endless and exciting opportunities in this ever-changing healthcare environment and Kelly, who deals with data at every turn as HRG's Director of Facility Coding, is excited to be a part of it.
HRG considers themselves very lucky to have Kelly and her credentialed team of coders as part of their team. They are integral to HRG’s success and enable the company to achieve client delight.
