Healthcare Resource Group

Healthcare Resource Group (HRG) was built on years of experience working in the healthcare industry and with facilities of all sizes, engaging in a wide array of challenges and providing solutions.

HRG’s OutPartnering™ Center is equipped with great people backed by superior technology. We produce industry leading services and get the results necessary for our partner’s to meet their individual goals and objectives.

Our growth success has been tied directly to our ability to work with our partners, to provide immediate benefits, long-term results, and exceed expectations.

Swedish Medical Group

Since opening in 1910, Swedish Medical Center is the largest nonprofit health care provider in the greater Seattle area with five hospital campuses: First Hill, Cherry Hill, Ballard, Edmonds and Issaquah, along with ambulatory care centers in Redmond and Mill Creek.

In addition, Swedish Medical Group is Swedish’s practice group for more than 1,100 providers and a network of more than 100 primary care and specialty clinics throughout the greater Puget Sound area. Providers in this group also practice in the prestigious Heart and Vascular, Neuroscience and Cancer Institutes.

Working with the HRG team was a delight, they were knowledgeable, humble and respectful. It was the perfect fit for this engagement. Many vendors I have worked with in the past suggest and recommend a lot but don’t follow through on the work. HRG completed all tasks at hand and more.

The Fit

The Partnership (1).png

The partnership between HRG and Swedish Medical Group began when Swedish found they were in need of a business partner that would provide expertise to improve performance within their Coding Compliance department. They were, also, looking to increase education for their team of providers in their physician/provider group. HRG was able to assist with these two objectives by instituting a coding compliance work plan, which included specific audit and provider education productivity, and performance and quality benchmarks.

Key Accomplishments

  • During the first year of our engagement, the pass rate for provider coding and documentation audits improved by 15%

  • Conducted an in-depth analysis of the state of the Coding Compliance (CC) department

  • Executed the role of interim CC director and provided coding auditors to support Swedish’s coding audit needs

  • Assessed current staff competency and assisted with reorganization of team, as well as, recruitment and on-boarding of all new staff

  • Created productivity standards and scorecards for the auditors and educators

  • Developed and maintained a new Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dashboard report to provide to senior leadership

  • Performed attorney client privileged audits at the request of counsel, including probe and extrapolation methodologies

  • Maintained communication and regular meetings with senior leadership, CC manager, and CC supervisor, to monitor progress and assist with problem resolution

  • Created a tracking mechanism to stratify providers based on error rates as part of the second year work plan with a focus on re-audits of providers with high error rates
